Careers and Building Character Coordinator

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to support our careers provision here at Castleford Academy.

You will:

• Lead, manage and coordinate the provision of Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) Careers Education for pupils aged 11-18.
• Work with senior leaders responsible for enrichment, engagement and wider curriculum to seek further appointments for pupils and to build their character.
• Identify and work with potential ‘Not in Education, Employment or Training’ (NEET) pupils.
• Build relationships with university colleagues and encourage university speakers to visit the academy and promote higher education, raising pupils’ aspirations.
• Coach pupils and build their self-esteem through basic skills provision; supporting their emotional development and challenging low expectations.
• Lead the academy’s career events including Careers and Aspirations week and National Apprenticeship week.
• Lead, manage and co-ordinate the implementation of our careers online platform.
• Have input into the academy’s wider curriculum and enrichment offering in conjunction with relevant coordinators.

You will be/have:

• A relevant qualification in Careers Guidance or a willingness to work towards.
• Ability to motivate and engage young people.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent organisational skills.
• A role model for young people.
